Beginner’s Inkle Loom Weaving
This class is for those who have barely seen a loom! If you have never woven before, or if it’s been a few years and you are trying to get back into it, this is the class for you! Participants will learn how to make heddles, how to measure and warp threads, and how to successfully set up a pattern on an inkle loom, as well as the basic principles of weaving. These elements combined will result in a deeper understanding of woven textiles. Thanks to the limited class size, participants will have direct access and input from the instructor. This is a hands-on class, that focuses on the mechanics of weaving, and the successful completion of a length of handwoven inkle material that will hopefully continue to inspire further creations. Inkle looms are a great place to begin your weaving journey, as they have many elements that can be directly applied to more complex looms.
Instructor Grace Slippy teaches a wide range of people across differing ages and developmental abilities. A costumed historic interpreter at Heritage Hill, outside of park hours Grace typically works with elementary children as a classroom teacher.
