Preparing for Winter: A Fall Fur Trade Encampment @ Heritage Hill State Historical Park

It is October of 1762 and Gorrell’s small company of 60th Foot Royal American Regiment is preparing for the onset of their second winter at LaBaye.

Join the Redcoats in Green Bay as they go about the daily activities of the British soldiers including, the morning flag raising ceremony, call to order, marching and drilling, target shooting their firelocks.

  • Experience firsthand an 18th century encampment in this remote region of what the French called Pays d’en Haut.
  • Discover how snowshoes are built, voyageur’s carved paddles
  • Watch the process of spruce beer being brewed and bread baking in the oven.

If you want to be even more immersed in the time period, don’t miss an evening of 18 century tavern life at the Courthouse building as it is  transformed into the Snap Dragon Tavern. This will be a special limited ticket event. More info coming soon!
