Semper Salsa is made up of partners Joel and Erica. They have been dancing the partner Latin dance of Salsa together since July 2022 but their dance journeys began independently long before that! Joel is originally from The Dominican Republic but came to the United States when he was 12. He grew up listening to salsa, merengue and bachata because of his dad’s love for music and he has taught in Busan South Korea, Hilo Hawaii, Honolulu Hawaii and Miami Florida. Everywhere Joel has lived, places like London in the UK, Lima, Peru and Busan, South Korea, he either joins the Salsa Community or he creates one! Erica was born in Italy and has been dancing salsa since 2002 across the country and abroad. She finds salsa to be her home no matter where she is and loves to combine it with travel. She’s danced salsa across the world everywhere she goes including Japan, Morocco, China and even Bahrain! Erica loves learning all styles and has worked part-time in dance studios allowing her to embrace cross-training and gain appreciation for all forms of movement!
