Poetry Writing & Appreciation Workshop @ Heritage Hill State Historical Park

Poetry offers us a unique opportunity for self-expression that is cathartic and healing by nature. When we share what is inside us, we extend permission for others to heal as well.

This is an excellent workshop for literally anyone: whether you haven’t read or written poetry since grade school, or you are an avid reader/writer, you will enjoy yourself throughout this informative, interactive workshop. As a group we will discuss and analyze famous works of poetry spanning the past two centuries, we’ll discuss concrete writing techniques, tips, and tricks that will have you writing your own work in no time, and we’ll cover many styles of poetry from Haiku to Quatrains to Sonnets to Elegies and more!

Join local writer, performer and educator Cujo who has been leading workshops for adults and youth for a number of years. While he is passionate about all forms of writing, in his words, “poetry is unique in its ability to connect us. I believe everyone has valuable experience to share, and writing is an important tool for finding meaning in the details of our lives.” Participants leave Cujo’s workshops with a deeper understanding of poetry on the whole, and a feeling of empowerment to begin writing on their own!
